Michael Buble's Early Life

At a very young age, Michael Buble’s grandfather began exposing him to a great deal of swing era music such as Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney, and Ella Fitzgerald among others. It didn’t take Buble long to realize that he wanted to be a singer, and this was the type of music he wanted to perform.
Gaining Experience and Exposure

After learning dozens of swing era hits and pop standards, Buble began performing with several local bands as a teenager. With his grandfather’s assistance, Buble continued to land live gigs and eventually won the Canadian Youth Talent Search at the age of 17. After releasing a couple of independent albums and traveling with a number of musical reviews, Grammy-award winning producer David Foster heard Michael Buble at a wedding performance, and helped sign him to Reprise Records.

Mainstream Breakthrough

In 2001, David Foster and Michael Buble began work on the singer’s major label debut. Containing unique reworkings of classic tunes from the 30’s and 40’s, as well updates of Van Morrison and Lou Rawls hits, Michael Buble’s self-titled debut was released in early 2003. With help from a great deal of label promotion and a successful world tour, the album became a hit in Canada and Australia as well as eventually going platinum in the U.S.

After becoming a household name to many, Michael Buble followed his early success with the album It’s Time. Released in early 2005, the album hit number one in Japan, Australia, Italy, and Canada, and it has sold over 2 million copies in the U.S. The disc contains more classic covers, as well as some original work including the hit single “Home.”

Buble toured throughout 2005 and 2006, and took home four trophies at the 2006 Juno Awards, the Canadian equivalent to the Grammys. His third studio album, Call Me Irresponsible, was released in May 2007 and topped album charts around the world including the US and the UK. His single "Everything" topped the adult contemporary chart and nearly broke into the mainstream pop top 40.

Michael Buble's third live album, Michael Buble Meets Madison Square Garden, was released in June 2009. It topped the jazz chart and reached #14 on the pop chart in the US. While the concert included pop standards, Buble also performed more contemporary pop and R&B material such as Billy Paul's "Me and Mrs. Jones," Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," and Leon Russell's "A Song For You."
